How long do I have to wait for my pet to be entered??
Once you have submitted a photo in the contest, we add it to the unused photos and make a random pull of 16 entries for each contest. The number is rapidly growing as we receive approximately 200 entries per month. There are over 1,000 pets patiently waiting a chance so please do not send a photo twice. Actually, the pets are always the patient ones.

How do I know you received my photo?
If you successfully send an entry to saytreats@thepoop.com, you will receive an auto-reply that we have received it. Yes, humans do check the entries and you will be notified ONLY if we did not receive the attachment or if the file is too big in file size. Entries are delayed in the rotation or ignored (without your notification) if they are of poor quality or lacking the proper information as instructed.

What determines if my image is "poor quality"?
Look at it on your screen. Do you have a hard time recognizing that there is a pet in the photo? Is it really really dark? Is it really really light? Is it blurry? Do you see pixels, or "digitized squares" all over it? Did you photograph a black pet on a black couch in a room with dark blue wallpaper and no windows? If yes to any of those, then your images is probably of poor quality.

I'm new to this web stuff. How can I avoid "poor quality" in my image?
A digital camera most often produces the best results... Or bother a friend or co-worker with a good scanner and try to get a better scan.

I entered my pet back in [insert month here]. Are you ever going to put him/her in?
Please see all of the above. Please note that we were collecting entries while the contest took a break early this year, and we still have all of the entries. There is no need to resubmit a photo. Duplicates will be deleted.

Will you notify me once my photo is entered?
We send an email to the email listed on the entry notifying you of the current entry.

Do I need to be in the US to enter my pet?
Nope! Our current prize is a Lifetime Discount to ThePoop.com Pet Store, which only ships to the US. You may still participate for the fun of it.

Should I include a bio with the entry?
The random pick is only by the images alone so we have no idea what your pet's bio is about when we enter the image. It's good to add some comments about your pet as it may be used in our breed photo database. Once the winner has been determined, we may contact the owner for a brief bio if we have not received one.

Voting Validation

Why do I have to be a member to VOTE?
Our member database will store the last date you have voted on the contest so it will be impossible to "cheat" (same member voting more than once). You must have a valid email to join ThePoop.com. If you have joined previous to March 2002, you will be asked - only ONE time - to validate your voting priviledge. This ensures you have a valid email with your membership. We're just keeping the contest fair for all.

Can I change the date back in time on my computer and vote?
Yes you can! But you'll be wasting your time. You'll still get a message that you have already voted on your second attempt for the day. The database captures the date on the SERVER that you have voted and will only allow one vote.

I was sent a voting validation password and it doesn't work
Make sure you have copied the complete link that was sent in your voting validation email and paste it into your browser. The link must contain your Poop Name and end with a number 1 through 16. Also make sure you are entering the password sent in the validation email - not your membership password. We will ask for this voting password only once.

Will I have to receive a validation email EACH time I vote?
Nope! Once you have validated your voting priviledge the first time, you will be able to vote every day by only entering your Poop Name and membership password.

Why did the contest let me vote without a voting validation?
You have joined the site during or after March, 2002. That means you have already validated your membership to the site, which allows instant access to voting priviledges.
