Volunteering... Short On Time

You may be interested in some way helping your local shelter or rescue group, but realize that you have very little, if any, time to give. Rest assured there is place for you!

Financial gifts and donations are always welcome and are usually sorely needed; most shelters and rescue groups rely on public funding to remain active. Any amount will be appreciated.

Another way to help is to donate materials for the dogs. Shelters and kennels need them and are always looking for more. Items such as newspaper, blankets, crates, paper towels, bags of food, toys, towels - all of these are often in short supply. Look around your home for inspiration, or call your local shelter, humane society or rescue groups to see what they need most.

You can also give donations to your favorite dog group by purchasing items from local fundraising events. Raffle tickets (with usually very nice prizes), toys, treats, t-shirts, and other various dog-related items are often sold during these events. This way you'll know the profits are being used for a good cause. You can often buy items on-line through the Internet from organizations seeking funds, too, especially during holidays, when special items are promoted to help raise funds. So when you hear of an event, find something you like and make a purchase!
