Viewer Question Topic: More Than 1 Dog

I have 2 OES dogs - one puppy, 8 months old and an adult 10yrs. Both dogs are spayed females. the puppy constantly attacks the older dog. The older dog is an extremely gentle dog and tolerates everything --except the puppy atacking. how can I stop the puppy from attacking the older dog? The puppy is extremely hyper (her grandfather was the OES at westminister).thank you very much. - rheba

Let's face it, puppies love to play. One of the supreme joys of having a puppy is enjoying its playfulness. One of the supreme aggravations of having a puppy is when that playfulness disrupts our otherwise set and staid ways. A tired pup is a wonderful pup. Explore ways to tire out the puppy. Whenever it's around the other dog, keep a leash attached to the pup's collar. Use the leash to safely and effectively control, disrupt and prevent any inappropriate behaviors. Unless the older dog is feeble or is suffering physical disabilities, sometimes it's best to let the dogs come to their own understanding. With safety the prime concern, try to let them sort it out themselves.
