Got a 9 year old male golden that is currently fed with Iams senior. He is
constantly swimming in our pond. My question is that he stinks 2 days after
we give him a bath whether he is in the pond or not. Is it the dog food,
pond, or a health issue that I am not aware of? I've had the anal gland
expressed in the past so do I have to continue to have this done? My dog is
neutered. Also, because of his age, he is still very active, I'm concerned
about his weight. Leo always has been a big golden, 85 in summer, 95 in
winter (michigan). He hasn't gotten down to his normal 85 so I am asking for
a suggested dog food with high protein and low fat to better control his
weight during his older years.
Thanks,
Dan from Vicksburg Michigan
I don't think your weight problem is your food but rather how much you're feeding him. Snacks, biscuits etc. count as food too! The odor can be a result of many things, your vet should be able to discover what the problem is.
