Expert Breeder Questions

A local radio dog-related talk show recently suggested that if you are adopting two puppies, adopt a male and a female, but not from the same litter. I had never heard this before. Can you tell me the reasoning behind this? My plan was to get a brother and sister, and I may adopt 8 week old brother and sister from the pound tomorrow. Thanks D

First, if you are going to adopt a male and female, make sure that you neuter and spay them at the proper time. Honestly, two puppies growing up together get into 100 times more mischief then one puppy alone. I would get one puppy - grow it up for one year - then if you want another one go for it!
