I need your opinion desperately. My mother has 2 pekes (females) one is 9 and the other is 8 yrs. old. My sister and I are no longer able to watch them in their home when my mother goes on a trip. Needless to say they are terrified of people outside the family. One will bite, they bark and shake like crazy. We believe it might be because they were never really socialized. Initially they were fine with people then it all changed. When company comes over, they are put in a bedroom. We have found a very nice boarding place for them, they would have their own room etc..

We plan on adopting a 2 year old female labrador retreiver who is very submissive towards people. We were told that she has been in and out of shelters over the past few weeks is unsure of environment and fate. She is very loving and warms up nicely to us. Do you have any suggestions for encouraging her to be less submissive?...

I have been working with a wonderful Neapolitan Mastiff boy that came into the program at 14 months of age. He was very friendly towards me and my hubby(who works the the dogs also) in the beginning. Within one week, Kiko decided that he didn't like men. I could understand if he had been abused, but this was not the case for Kiko.
