More Information for Lucy the Corgi:

Plano, TX

  Pet Type: dog
  Pet's name: Lucy
  Breed: Corgi
  Age: 8?
  Size: Medium
  Sex: F

Description: She is very well housetrained, crate trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations (vet records available upon request). She sits on command (most of the time), sleeps quietly on the floor at night, and is playful. Lucy was a stray, so she has no papers, but she is clearly a purebred. Lucy has two special health concerns. She has what is called keratoconjunctivitis sicca. It's an autoimmune condition. It means that she does not see well and needs medicine put diligently in her eyes daily, as well as her eyes gently cleaned (ideally) twice daily. The ointment for her eyes is called Optimmune (generic is cyclosporine) and runs about $35/month. She also has some mild skin allergies and does better on a sensitive skin dogfood formula (any from Petsmart or Petco would likely do). I am surrendering Lucy because she does not get along well with my chihuahua and attacks things that come into her limited visual field too quickly. I now work a job with long hours, so I also cannot give her the exercise that she needs. I feel Lucy would do well in a home with familiarity with the corgi breed, with no young children (and if there are older children, it would be better if they are comfortable being assertive and firm with dogs), no other dogs, and ideally with an environmental layout that doesn't change often (since she can't see well). Lucy's foster family that cared for her before I adopted her has a goat, with which she apparently got along very well, so she (as a herding dog by nature) might do well if you have goats or sheep, too. She is a magnificent dog, and I hope you can help me find her a new home! Her adoption will be final, so please be willing to be responsible for her future care. I will happily give you her microchip information so you can register her to you and provide you with her veterinary record. I am happy to answer any questions you have about her, and naturally will want some basic information about you and your home before making the decision to adopt her out.
